Y, yes, my brother’s wife rules the roost & he is easy going & just gives in. But they’ve been married for 35 years so I guess that works for them. A will be in control of that relationship , Dh & I picked up on that right away. W will take Rusty with him when he moves out in hopefully a few months so while it’s not ideal, it’s temporary. Even if he ends up getting a job locally although it makes more financial sense for him to live at home & pay us rent, we’d like him to move out to learn some independence & budgeting. He’s nearly 26.

Smoke alarm started chirping at 1:30 am so I had to have W help me change batteries in 2 of them because there was no way I was going to sleep through it. Unlike DH.

Today Dh had a headache so we didn’t go to church. I walked Boo since he wasn’t up to it.

Dh worked in the yard. I cleaned up the kitchen. W did SAT tutoring. Now that he’s home I told him I’d like him to help me deep clean the family room. So he dusted the ceiling fan which required the big ladder, we wiped the interior windows & he’s dusting blinds. We will rearrange couches & I’ll finish dusting & vacuuming the room myself. I’m also going to get out the little shampooer & clean the couches & a few spots on the bedroom carpet where Boo “buried” her greasy bones. I told Dh he has to stop giving her meat bones because she keeps bringing them inside to hide them.

That’s all I’m doing today except maybe 1 load of laundry. Leftovers for dinner.

Joyce - how does J feel about giving up Rusty?  And what is J asked A to get rid of her guinea pigs?  I get the allergy too but her mom isn't going to live with them. I'd be peeved too.  Hopefully it was a healthy conversation between the 2 of them to make the decision.  Sorry I get visions of my SIL...  it is what she wants no matter what... DH's brother just bows down and does it.

Hi all!

Carrie, glad your mom is feeling ok.

Y, the joys of living with a man! lol

I slept in a little. Thunderstorms last night & still wet & gloomy today. Dh was going to work in the yard but maybe tomorrow.

I wanted to work on deep cleaning the family room but now we have a consultation in an hour so I’ll just pick it up. I put away some of the papers from yesterday’s phone calls from SSI + TX workforce, but discovered more file folders in our safe for each kid that had old child ID info (from the school every year in case they went missing), report cards & certificates. I went through G’s & W went through his. J will be here next weekend so I left his in the guest room. So anyway, there’s papers everywhere to be shredded or thrown out.

I’ve got laundry going, need to empty the dishwasher & wipe counters. I’ve taken my cordless vacuum apart & cleaned it out but it still has a weird faint smell near the motor like Boo. I’ve tried Febreeze air, rubbing alcohol & Lysol. I give up.

We talked to J last night. One of his friends from high school (who will also be a groomsman) was over so we got to talk to him too. J & A will be looking at apartments soon & A’s mother is very allergic to cats, so A wants us to take Rusty back. We can keep him in W’s room & we will take him back temporarily until W moves out this fall, then he will take Rusty with him. I’m a little peeved at A but I guess I get it. She also has 2 Guinea pigs that Rusty would be going after.

I need to go and read yesterday's posts still but wanted to check in.

We visited the jobsite yesterday.  Not a ton of work going on at the time but neat to see how we were dewatering, cleaning the water to return it back to the land  and the overall plan.  They had a nice lunch for us at the jobsite office.

Got home yesterday and while DH was making dinner he made me a cocktail.  It had 3oz of bourbon plus triple sec in it.... I took an hour to drink it and it kicked my butt.  After dinner I sat on the couch and the last thing I remember was watching the Big Bang Theory and thinking about what to watch at 8pm.....  DH woke me up at 11:30 or so to go to bed, I think I woke up again sometime around  1:30 to actually go to bed and slept until 7... Guess I was tired.

Been doing stuff around the house this morning. Paying bills, recycling boxes from the week, tried out the waterless wash spray on my car (seems to work good) and then spend half an hour scrubbing DH's shower. I can't understand how his shower gets so nasty....  I need to find a shower gel he likes because my shower has almost no soap scum and his is nothing but a layer of scum.  And since his back can't handle it I have to do it (YUCK)

Just took a shower and will decide what we are going to do next.

Have a great day.
Y

PS Carrie - glad mom is doing better.

ok, somehow mom and cindy made it home yesterday and my little sister came up to help.

justin is plenty sore in his hip and upper back area.

tonight we have thunder and snow storms and possibly tornadoes forecast.

have to get the cat his supper and his shot before the thunder starts.

left a note for the cleaning lady to quit tucking stuff away, she said she would.

made some new mugs to put up on etsy, time to get into mother's day mode.

finished off 3 book covers and starting another one for a sci fi book.

need to get the SEO up on the MN website then it's DONE.

dentist wants to pull my tooth. i'm not happy.

and she said where they pulled my last tooth they didn't put extra "stuff" in there so i can't have an implant. not happy.

tomorrow will be straight computer and house work. i have to finish up this stuff and concentrate on etsy.

off to feed the cat!

I talked to a mumbly young guy from SSI who sounded sullen & just wanted to get off the phone. Basically he said since I filled out the form online we didn’t have to talk. I hadn’t filled out one page. First it said “put down any amount you’ve worked, no matter how small”. The next page it said list your job, UNLESS it was a month or less in length. G did Summer Earn & Learn last summer as his only job, for a month. There was no option to pick 0 jobs. The guy told me to list it. It was mind numbing “did you crouch in your job? How many minutes a day did you crouch? Did you put your arms over your head? How many minutes a day? Etc”. I filled it out & asked if I needed to take any documentation to the Social Security office. He said no, they will use the names & numbers I have to track the info down. As soon as I submitted the form it said I have to take supporting documents to the SS office. Sigh. I’ll call them next week. I also forgot to tell him I couldn’t create an online account but I doubt he would have been helpful.

Had the call with the TX workforce guy. He’s going to take G out next week for a soda & talk about his goals & interests. Good luck with that, lol.

I’m wiped & besides making dinner & playing with G I’m just going to prep A’s Christmas stocking so I can start it tomorrow.

Talked to my younger sister for a long time. She had to vent about my sister & dad. He was still wearing the “urine pants” & “bloody jacket” from 2 weeks ago. She had to go to the basement to change the air filter & the sight of boxes piled to the ceiling, & bins in my dad’s bedroom about put her over the edge. She saw his bed blanket was filthy but he didn’t want her to wash it so she shook it outside. She said older sister is doing nothing to help. Her radiation therapy is done so there’s no excuses. I had to chuckle to myself about the house (not my problem now!) but get that she doesn’t want to constantly harp on dad because you never know when it’s your last conversation with him. I told her she should harp on him about changing clothes- that’s basic hygiene- & should get on older sister to start helping more.

I looked at the Social Security webpage yesterday just to double check what I need for the phone call today. I saw that I could apply without making an account. So I spent the rest of the day filling out pages & pages of forms. I hope they are able to see it when they call, otherwise we’re going to have to go through each question verbally. 😫

I have that call this morning, then Texas Workforce is going to call this afternoon. A basic interview with G to see what types of places he would like to work at. He’s going to hate that as he hates answering questions or talking in general.

Getting these 2 things started is great, just very nerve wracking.

Later today need to do some business stuff & house cleaning. And I’m taking G to Kroger to pick out some rewards (food) for dealing with these calls.

Carrie - sorry about your mom, sending her healing vibes.

I finally got to the chiro and got a 30 minute massage first.  OMG I tried the guy masseuse he was fantastic.   I felt things popping while he was working on me.  Chiro got a good adjustment in too.  Funny part was the guy massaged my head too (oh that felt nice) and when I was getting dressed I looked in the mirror and my hair was everywhere.  I looked like I got hit by lightning and my hair was sticking out everywhere.  It was hysterical, good thing I didn't go back to worik.

I got home in 45 minutes and the chiro office is 7 miles further away for me.  Beats the 2 hours it took me yesterday

DH made Filet Mignon for dinner.  it was so good.

Have a great night.
